99 pc Bengal Muslims now on OBC list. Trinamool Congress  has decided to include 33 more categories in the OBC list.At present there are 65 communities in the OBC category. today the cabinet has taken a decision to include 33 more castes and sub-castes into the list which will bring 98 of the identified 143 castes in the state under OBC category,.  Muslims comprise 26 per cent of the electorate of the state.“Previously the reservation for OBC in the state was 7 per cent but it was lifted to 17 per cent in 2010. sked about the rest 45 communities which are left outside the category, Mamata who left for Delhi on Wednesday said: “We are considering another seven or eight communities. Caste News:Boy killed for having affair with upper caste girl

Lucknow, Sept 11, DHNS Falling in love with an upper caste girl proved fatal for a youth who was brutally killed and one of his eyes gouged out in Uttar Pradesh’s Faizabad district, about 125 km from here. According to police sources, the body of the youth identified as Rehan Ahmed, a resident of Khandpipra village in the district, was recovered from near a graveyard, a few hundred metres away from the village, on Saturday. Rehan was having an affair with a girl of the same village for the past two years and the two wanted to marry but their affair was not approved by the girl’s family since he hails from a lower caste. “The lovers belonged to different castes and the family of the girl was opposed to their marriage…the boy was also warned by the girl’s family members on many occasions,” officials said. London, Nov 12 (PTI): Thousands of people of Indian origin, 71 per cent of whom were Dalits, face caste discrimination in Britain, says a new report, leading to demands in the country for making it illegal. The report, titled "Voice of the Community -- A Study into Caste and Caste Discrimination in the UK", says that the caste system is widespread and that it affects thousands of people in the workplace, the classroom and even the doctor's surgery. British law currently does not protect people who suffer caste-based discrimination. The issue was also discussed at the committee stage of the Equality Bill 2009 in the House of Commons in June this year, but the government said evidence of this was lacking. The new study, whose main conclusion was that there is "considerable evidence of caste-based discrimination among the Asians in Britain," was coordinated by the Anti-Caste Discrimination Alliance (ACDA), and included academics from three British universiti...
